3 Arrested for Modding XBOXs...

Three California men this week were charged with selling modified
Xbox game consoles that allowed the machines to play pirated games that were copied onto a hard drive installed in the consoles.
According to a criminal complaint filed in federal court in Los Angeles, the three individuals, including two store owners, are accused of conspiring to traffic in a technology used to circumvent a copyright-protection system and conspiring to commit criminal copyright infringement.
The owners of ACME Game Store allegedly sold Xbox gaming systems that had been altered by a third man, who installed modification chips and large hard drives into the consoles. These chips and hard drives allow the user to copy rented or borrowed games for future playback.
